The General

The very first rub created by the brilliant team at Angus and Pink, and still a favourite of ours to this day!

This Tex-Mexican "bandit" is a blend of spices, chiles, salt, and sugar, a proper dust inspired by the deep, Southern traditions of barbecue and slow cooking. With a pungent and smoky aroma, it brings to mind the bold flavours of the Mexican border.

We find our General seasoning to be a jack-of-all-trades, a most useful addition to many a dish. We use it to add a deep layer of spice and smoke to a chili, to dust over nachos warmed in the oven, or as a final touch on macaroni cheese. For a godly crunchy topping, mix it with lightly oiled panko crumbs.

It remains a favourite seasoning for finishing a good steak on the grill, a simple burger, and to this day, we still rub our ribs and pork shoulder with The General before they head into the smoker.
